Ecological Pest Management |
I am broadly interested in how species are interacting and how interactions between them influence their biology, ecology, and genomes. Research on species interaction has been central to medical, agricultural, and general biology for decades. The understanding of the interactions of insects with their host plants, natural enemies and their microbiota can provide us with better ecological insect management strategies. Particularly, when a new species invades and joins an already established community, its arrival disturbs the community structure. I am fascinated in exploring the close relationships within the community especially after the arrival of an invasive species. I apply laboratory, greenhouse, and field experiments to study the ecological interactions to find better ways for the management of invasive pest species.
Field and Greenhouse skills
I perform field and greenhouse experiments to explore species interactions.
Laboratory skills
I use molecular tools to further explore the species interaction at micro-level.
Computational skillsI use bioinformatics and statistical tools to analyze results obtained in field and laboratory experiments.
